The Spanish brand, known for its modern styles at moderate prices, launched online shopping in the U.S. on Wednesday. Before Wednesday, online shopping at Zara.com was exclusively offered to 17 European countries.

After what feels like an age for those of us living Down Under, Zara has finally opened its doors in Sydney. Marking the first stage in its Australian expansion, the Spanish retailer chose Westfield in Sydney’s Pitt Street Mall to launch its first store. Expected to rival local labels including Sportsgirl, Witchery, Cue and Portmans, the arrival of Zara and its fast approach to fashion will certainly set the cat amongst the pigeons. H&M, Forever 21 and Abercrombie & Fitch are all apparently readying themselves also to head to Oz in the not-too distant future.
Comprising of three levels, the 1400 square metre space was unveiled to the press today. Australia is the 78th country that Zara has opened up in, with a second store slated for Melbourne at the end of June.
Price-wise, for a pair of jeans or cigarette pants, Aussies can pay from $69, while trench coats start from $120 and dresses are priced around the $120 mark.
