Piperlime, the Gap-owned e-commerce shoe site, will open its first retail store this fall in New York City, according to a press release. Because why would anyone want to try on a pair of shoes in the comfort of her own home, with free shipping and returns, when instead she could schlep down to Soho, elbow her way through armies of tourists clutching American Girl shopping bags, and find that the store doesn’t have her size anyway?
